Content: This workshop will analyze the unique factors, concerns, and needs related to substance use disorders in the older adult population (55+). The baby boomer cohort have all reached at least 60 years of age. We will look at the trends of an aging population in America. Through the lens of ageism, we will explore myths surrounding substance misuse among older. What are the factors that are driving substance abuse for older adults. Tips and ideas on how to help older adults who are misusing substances will be discussed.
