Content: This workshop will explore the varieties and potencies of marijuana that is now, with legalization in NYS, more widely accessible. Covered will be signs, symptoms, short/long-term effects, and the range of health risks (physical and mental) supported by examples from current research. We will review associated trends to include the rise of vaping and reemerging synthetic cannabinoids. Also covered will be current trends (national, state, and local) that inform prevalence. With legalized marijuana, medical and recreational/commercial in NYS, there are a host of enforcement challenges. Included will be a discussion of dispensaries and recent enforcement responses to the many illegal dispensaries that have opened. Discussion will include implications and considerations for our collective work with youth, families, and communities across the continuum.
Continental breakfast is provided.
