This presentation offers a review of alcohol physiology, including intoxication, withdrawal and physical consequences. The presentation will also include a review of diagnostic criteria for alcohol use disorder and currently available Medication Assisted Treatment. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion of the magnitude of the problem (alcohol continues to cause greater mortality and morbidity than opioids and all other non-tobacco substances combined), as well as the opportunity to discuss treatment successes and the life-changing aspects of recovery.
